'Northampton town centre - our next steps' - your invitation
 
You are invited to our town centre business conference, taking place on Wednesday, 19th September 2018, from 5.30pm-8pm at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, Silver Street, Northampton NN1 2TA.
 
We all know the challenges that are facing Northampton town centre, so what are we going to do to address these?
 
At this conference, Northampton town centre – our next steps , we will explore priorities, what the public think and what needs to be done.
 
There will be a series of presentations, a panel you can ask questions of and announcements that will affect our town centre.
 
Among the presenters will be:
  • Chronicle & Echo editor, David Summers – who will talk about what his readers want for the town centre
  • Michael Weedon, Federation of Small Businesses Retail Unit Chair and East Midlands Policy Lead presenting the industry view
  • Neil Darwin, Economic Development Consultant, and George Candler, Chief Executive Officer, Northampton Borough Council providing a public sector viewpoint
  • Rob Purdie, Executive Director, Northampton town centre BID on the BID view
 
Panelists will include:
  • Rob Purdie, Executive Director, Northampton town centre BID
  • Cllr Jonathan Nunn and George Candler, Northampton Borough Council
  • Andrew Lewer, MP for Northampton South
  • Mick Stamper, Superintendent of Northamptonshire Police
  • Deborah Mattock, Director of Human Resources and Marketing, University of Northampton
 
This conference will be compered and the panel facilitated by broadcaster, John Griff .
 
The event is aimed at peo ple who work in or own businesses in the town centre, so you will be prioritised when it comes to booking.
 
There is likely to also be interest from town centre residents and other business owners, so space permitting this will be opened to a broader audience.
 
  • 5.30pm: Arrival and refreshments
  • 6pm: Take your seats - short presentations will begin.
  • 7pm: Your chance to ask questions of Northampton decision makers
  • 8pm: Finish, the bar is open - so mingle, ask questions, get your views across.

Mystery Shopping Scheme - still time to take part
 
There is still time to get involved - sign up to our Mystery Shopping scheme by the end of play on Friday, 31st August.
 
Mystery shoppers will then visit your business and we will hold an awards event in November, complete with certificates, photographs and lots of opportunities to promote your business.

BID Monthly Meeting - Wednesday 22nd August
The focus of our next BID Monthly Meeting is an open discussion on business issues, festive planning and update of sales and footfall for the town. 
 
There will be two meetings on Wednesday 22nd August at 7.30-8.30am and 6-7pm.
 
The meeting will take place at the BID Office s, 2nd Floor, Town Centre House, 7-8 Mercers Row, Northampton, NN1 2QL.
 
Discover Northampton - our new, voucher-packed, town centre magazine
Make sure you are featured in our next Discover magazine.
 
Our first issue, produced in August, was delivered to more than 30,000 Northampton homes and businesses and featured lots of special offers and money off vouchers.
 
This magazine has been produced by the BID to inspire people and give them yet more reasons to come into our town centre.
 
We couldn’t feature every business in this first magazine, so now is your chance to be featured in our October issue.
